The new Toyota Land Cruiser V8 is taking over from the Land Cruiser 100. Longer by 6cm and wider by 3cm than its predecessor, it is also more ambitious. Its cab can accommodate 7 people in comfort. Not only does the cab gain an extra 13 cm but the chassis and the suspension have been revised, allowing this true 4 x 4 to operate without difficulty on all types of terrain. Where engines are concerned, this V8 is available in petrol and diesel versions. The latter is a 4.5 litre D4D (4,461 cc) double turbo Common Rail. It develops 286 bhp at 3,600 revs, producing torque of 650 NM, available from 1,200 revs. The engine is linked to a new 6-speed automatic gearbox. |
