The new generation of the Ford Focus has arrived. Its family resemblance to its big sister the Mondeo is plain to see. Its objective is to attack formidable compacts including the 308, the future Golf VI, the Mégane III and the Fiat Bravo, in order to confirm its success at a European level. A new design, rather successful at the front, a new higher quality interior, with few innovations under the bonnet. Four diesels, already figuring in the P-Tronic catalogue, remain on offer: the 1.6 TDCVi developing 90 and 110 bhp, and the 2.0 TDCi in 110 and 136 bhp modes. It should be noted that the first two of these are now linked to the ECOnetic programme aiming to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption via a combination of optimising engine management, improving the drag coefficient and using better tyres. |
